Mr. Donahoe’s practice concentrates primarily on advising owners of closely-held businesses, estate planning and probate administration, trust, wills, real estate, and federal and state tax controversies and litigation relating to all of those areas. He is an Indiana Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist and is also admitted to practice law in Florida.
Mr. Donahoe graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and later earned his law degree from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis and his MBA degree from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Before entering the practice of law in 1988, Mr. Donahoe practiced accounting for six years with two Indianapolis CPA firms and also worked for the Appellate Division of the Internal Revenue Service in Indianapolis.
Mr. Donahoe was a member of the Indiana Corporate Law Survey Commission Limited Liability Company Task Force that drafted Indiana's limited liability company legislation (the "Indiana Business Flexibility Act"), serving as a member of the Tax Subcommittee.
He has been a frequent speaker to various professional and trade groups on estate planning and tax controversies and has conducted in-house training presentations for national, regional and local accounting firms on the subject of limited liability companies and estate tax and planning matters.
Mr. Donahoe has been named an Indiana Super Lawyer each year since the inception of the list in 2004. According to the compiler of the list, those named represent the top five percent of licensed lawyers in Indiana. Selections for Super Lawyers (www.SuperLawyers.com) are made by Law & Politics magazine based on a multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates, and peer review of candidates by practice area.
